Carlton Fay's stay in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament wasn't a lengthy one.
The Putnam County graduate can thank Drake guard Josh Young for having to leave the field earlier than anticipated.
Fay and the Southern Illinois men's basketball team fell in the first round of Arch Madness to Drake when Young sank a fadeaway jumper with 1.5 seconds left to help give the Bulldogs a 63-61 win in dramatic fashion at the Scottrade Center.

The winner will play No. 1 seed Northern Iowa in a 12:05 p.m. quarterfinal round game Friday.
Drake swept the 2009-10 season series against the Salukis with a 70-65 victory in Carbondale, Ill., Jan. 9 and a 79-72 triumph in Des Moines Feb. 16.
This marks the fifth time the teams have faced one another in the MVC Tournament with the Salukis winning three times in the quarterfinal round in 1987 (74-70), 1995 (85-65) and 2007 (71-59).

Their record is hardly impressive and their seed is second-worst among 10 teams.
So the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Salukis have something to prove this week.
They want to show folks that they belong in the middle of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

Even without starting point guard Kevin Dillard, Southern Illinois University's men's basketball team led Creighton 40-36 at the half earlier today.
Dillard watched the game in street clothes after spraining his ankle.
Carlton Fay picked up the slack early on, scoring 13 in the first half to lead all scorers.
