Ben Jacobson of Northern Iowa goes about his coaching business in quiet manner - much like the Panthers of the Missouri Valley Conference. They mirror each other. What you see is what you get.

Carlton Fay's stay in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament wasn't a lengthy one. The Putnam County graduate can thank Drake guard Josh Young for having to leave the field earlier than anticipated. Fay and the Southern Illinois men's basketball team fell in the first round of Arch Madness to Drake when Young sank a fadeaway jumper with 1.5 seconds left to help give the Bulldogs a 63-61 win in dramatic fashion at the Scottrade Center.

What happened (Thursday night) is pretty much what’s been happening to us the whole year   -Carlton Fay

Their record is hardly impressive and their seed is second-worst among 10 teams. So the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Salukis have something to prove this week. They want to show folks that they belong in the middle of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

We know we can play with anybody in the league because we’ve had a lot of close games   -Chris Lowery

Clevin Hannah got a baptism by fire when he arrived at Wichita State in 2008. Wichita State's backcourt had no one with Division I experience at the start of the 2008-09 season. Junior College.

Even without starting point guard Kevin Dillard, Southern Illinois University's men's basketball team led Creighton 40-36 at the half earlier today. Dillard watched the game in street clothes after spraining his ankle. Carlton Fay picked up the slack early on, scoring 13 in the first half to lead all scorers.
